Free-agent guard Orlando Franklin visited the Jets on Tuesday, according to a source.
Franklin spent the past two years with the Chargers, who signed him to a five-year, $36.5 million contract in 2015. San Diego released him in May. The Jets had interest in the 29-year-old two years ago when he was a free agent, but they ultimately signed James Carpenter.
The Jets are set at guard with starters Carpenter and Brian Winters, but could use some depth on the offensive line. Franklin would have to come cheap, though. It is unlikely the Jets would pay more than the veteran minimum.
