The Jets are going back to the virtual this week.

With COVID-19 cases rising across the NFL and the Jets having two players miss Sunday’s loss to the Saints with non-COVID illnesses, the team has decided to play it safe and hold all its meetings virtually as it prepares for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins.

“All meetings are being done at home, but we’ll still have our lifts, we’ll still have our practices and walk-throughs in person and all that stuff, but as far as stuffing everybody into a meeting room where we could spread the virus, we’re just keeping them virtual for now,” coach Robert Saleh said Monday afternoon. “The next time we’re all in one room together, we’ll be on an airplane to Miami.”

Later on Monday, the Jets placed special-teamer Justin Hardee on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Running back Austin Walter and defensive end Ronnie Blair were unable to play Sunday after waking up sick with non-COVID illnesses.

The Jets have had multiple players miss time this season after testing positive for COVID-19, but they have been able to avoid any outbreaks.

The league had 37 positive COVID-19 tests on Monday alone, ESPN reported.

For a team that has been ravaged by injuries this season, the Jets finally had some positive news on the injury front Monday.

They are set for an influx of healthy bodies, as Saleh said he expected to get RB Michael Carter (ankle, injured reserve), CB Michael Carter (concussion), RB Tevin Coleman (concussion), TE Tyler Kroft (chest, injured reserve) and DE Bryce Huff (back, injured reserve) back this week.

Kroft last played in Week 9 and would bring a much-needed reinforcement to the Jets’ thin tight end group.

The return of Carter, the rookie running back who had emerged as a playmaker, and Coleman would also bolster the Jets’ backfield after it had just two healthy backs Sunday in Ty Johnson and La’Mical Perine.

In the span of a day, the Jets went from trying to see if rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore could test out his quad injury Friday so he could play Sunday to placing him on injured reserve Saturday. Moore must miss at least two more games, but Saleh still hopes to get him back for the final two games of the season.

“It just wasn’t responding to the treatment and it was just one of those deals where it was 50-50 at best for the Jacksonville game [on Dec. 26],” Saleh said. “With all the injuries that we’re having, it was just better to give him that week to heal instead of trying to rush him back and we’ll get him back for the last two.”
