New York Jets safety LaRon Landry says he will appeal his fine by the NFL of $15,750 for a horse-collar tackle against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Landry says Friday he will not change the aggressive style of play that has made him one of the league’s hardest-hitting players. He acknowledges he put his hand on the back of Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown’s shoulder pads last Sunday, but did not pull him down.

Landry has three personal foul penalties in two games, and says he needs to be more “strategic,” especially on plays near the sideline.

“I’m not trying to injure a guy, and not trying to play dirty,” Landry says. “I’m just trying to make a play.”
