Observations from the Jets’ training camp practice on Monday:

Steal-y resolve

Jamien Sherwood made the play of the day, intercepting Aaron Rodgers when the quarterback tried to go over the middle into traffic, coming down with the ball after it was initially tipped into the air.

Off the mark

The offense generally struggled throughout, with Rodgers missing a deep ball and most of his completed passes being for short gains.

Andrew Peasley, who’s competing for a third-string quarterback job, had a particularly rough practice, throwing a pair of interceptable passes that badly missed the target.

Caught my eye

While Olu Fashanu has exclusively worked on the left during camp, Robert Saleh said he anticipates Fashanu getting time on the right side, as well. That would bolster the Jets’ depth, should they need to use Fashanu as a swing tackle at some point.

Rodgers report

On a rough day for the offense, Rodgers was 4-for-8, throwing an interception and taking an unofficial sack.

Center Joe Tippmann continued to be less than perfect in snapping the ball to Rodgers as well, a trend throughout camp.

Injury report

Left tackle Tyron Smith missed a second straight practice with lower extremity tightness.

Michael Carter II (ankle) didn’t practice. Receiver Irv Charles limped off after a collision late in practice.
