The Jets are shaking up their front office.

The team and assistant general manager Rex Hogan have agreed to part ways, according to a source.

Hogan has been general manager Joe Douglas’ right-hand man since he was hired in June 2019.

Hogan oversaw the college and pro scouting departments and had a major role in personnel evaluation and decisions.

Though the Jets have built a top-five defense, they have not had as much success on offense.

aThey have missed on top draft picks such as Zach Wilson, Mekhi Becton, Denzel Mims and Elijah Moore.

This was Hogan’ s second stint with the team. He was the senior director of college scouting under former GM Mike Maccagnan in 2015-16.

He spent two years as the vice president of player personnel with the Colts in 2017-18.

Hogan assisted Douglas in turning over the roster during the past four years.

The highlight of Hogan’s time with the team was the 2022 draft when the Jets drafted Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson in the first round.

Both went on to win 2022 Rookie of the Year awards on their side of the ball.

They also drafted Jermaine Johnson and Breece Hall that year, and both look to be long-term contributors.

The Jets have had some whiffs in free agency during Hogan’s time with the team.

The team did not have a good offseason last year, adding Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Mecole Hardman and none of them were major contributors during the season.

The Jets have also failed to fix their offensive line issues during Hogan’s time with the team, and that has led to a lot of their struggles in recent years.

Before joining the Jets in 2015, Hogan worked for the Bears for 12 years, the last three as a national scout.

He is well liked and has strong ties across the NFL, so it will not be surprising if he lands a new job soon.
