As an incidental parting gift to Eric Decker, the Jets will let him choose his next team.
The Jets have not been able to find a willing trade partner for the 30-year-old wide receiver and now will release him, losing him without seeing any trade return, according to ESPN.
The Jets announced Tuesday that they would be parting ways with the wideout who’s been in New York since 2014 as part of their massive deconstruction this offseason. They had been hoping to see a draft pick in return for a receiver with 52 touchdowns and 5,253 receiving yards in his seven-year NFL career, but Decker’s contract, which would give him $14.75 million over the next two seasons, proved difficult to deal.
