It seems only fitting that an Aaron Rodgers injury will be a subplot to the Jets hosting the Bills in prime time.
Head coach Robert Saleh confirmed Monday that the 40-year-old quarterback is dealing with a low-ankle sprain on his right foot — a diagnosis that Rodgers first offered after Sunday’s loss to the Vikings.
“All the preliminary stuff says he’ll be fine,” Saleh said.

Remember, it was Jets-Bills on “Monday Night Football” in East Rutherford during Week 1 last season when Rodgers suffered the torn Achilles in his left leg that ended his season after four snaps.
Rodgers won’t be fully healthy for the rematch.
He was limping throughout the second half against the Vikings after he got his “foot caught in the pile” when trying to orchestrate a 17-point comeback in what became a 23-17 loss.
On the same hit, Rodgers seemed to scream and reach for his left knee, which already was “a little swollen” entering Sunday’s game.

“I talked with him [Sunday] night,” Saleh said. “He’s doing fine. Obviously, he’s a little banged up, but he feels good.”
Rodgers has taken a total of 25 hits and eight sacks in the back-to-back losses to the Broncos and Vikings.
Reports continue to swirl that the Raiders are looking for a quick breakup with WR Davante Adams, who is seeking a trade.
Adams reportedly would prefer a reunion with one of his former quarterbacks: Rodgers with the Jets or Derek Carr with the Saints.
The Raiders’ preference is to not take on any of the $12.1 million owed to Adams this season, according to a Fox Sports report, despite having $25.6 million in salary-cap space compared to the Jets’ $15.4 million.
CB Michael Carter II (hamstring) is headed for extra tests and Saleh expected to have an update by his next media briefing Thursday.
Carter played just one defensive snap after injuring himself during pregame warm-ups, which created expanded roles in the nickel package for Isaiah Oliver (44 snaps) and Ashtyn Davis (nine).
The Jets did not activate DL Leki Fotu (hamstring) off of injured reserve to play Sunday despite his full participation in two practices last week.
Fotu was injured during training camp and is awaiting his Jets and season debut.
“We talked about it, but felt like he needed at least another week,” Saleh said. “Not saying that this will be the week he comes up, but hopefully he progresses better.”
The Jets have two more weeks to decide whether to activate Fotu or shut him down for the season.
