Jets report card
OFFENSE (F)
Ten games into the season, this unit still has not clicked. Guard Matt Slauson scored the Jets’ only touchdown. That tells you everything you need to know. QB Mark Sanchez (24-of-40, 252 yards, one INT) put the Broncos back in the game with his third pick-six of the season. The Jets ran for just 83 yards with Shonn Greene out of the game after the first quarter.
DEFENSE (C)
For 55 minutes, they were tremendous. Unfortunately for them, the five minutes of failure came at the end. Tim Tebow drove 95 yards down the field on them to win the game. They held Tebow to 68 yards rushing but 57 came on the final touchdown drive. The Broncos had 229 yards in the game. Bart Scott had a big fumble recovery early. The line and linebackers looked worn out at the end.
SPECIAL TEAMS (F)
The Jets’ best unit all season had a terrible night. Joe McKnight fumbled a kickoff. The kickoff team gave up a 67-yard return. Punter T.J. Conley had a 13-yard punt that led to the Broncos’ field goal. All in all Mike Westhoff’s unit looked awful. Nick Folk missed two long field goals, while hitting one short one and one 45-yarder.
COACHING (D)
The Jets were in must-win mode coming in here. It was a tough preparation week with just three days. But man did they look lost at times. Brian Schottenheimer never got his offense rolling. Mike Pettine called an ill-advised blitz on Tebow’s touchdown. The Jets struggled with time management. Their backs are against the wall now. It’s time to see if Rex Ryan can pull off another strong finish to get this team in the playoffs.
