The Jets added some depth at running back on Tuesday with the signing of Justin Grimes off the Texans practice squad.
Because he was signed off another team’s practice squad, Grimes has to be on the Jets gameday roster for at least the next three games. Coach Rex Ryan acknowledged on Monday that getting Shonn Greene and the ground game going is a priority, and he did not dismiss the idea of giving more early-game carries to backups Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell. Now, Grimes will be a new face in the backfield.
The undrafted free agent out of William & Mary ran for 130 yards and a touchdown in limited preseason time for Houston.
