The Jets signed Demario Davis to a four-year deal on Thursday night, according to a source. The contract is worth a little under $2.9 million.
The Jets selected the Arkansas State linebacker in the third round of the April draft. Davis has drawn strong reviews from Jets head coach Rex Ryan, who saw flashes of the Ravens’ Ray Lewis during the rookie mini-camp in early May.
“I’m not saying Demario is that guy, and there’s only one Ray Lewis,” said Ryan, who coached Lewis in Baltimore for 10 years. “But it’s interesting — his face, mannerisms, passion. … I see some things.”
The Jets have now signed seven of their eight draft picks with seventh-round selection Jordan White, a receiver out of Western Michigan, the only one without a deal.
