Several Jets expressed surprise that the Patriots would trade away their best deep threat receiver when they sent Randy Moss to the Vikings.
“With what he provides that offense it’s kind of a shocker,’’ Jets safety Jim Leonhard said. “He’s matchup issue for teams, a guy you have to be aware of all the time. To take him out of that offense you wonder who’s going to fill that role now.
“But the one thing you can’t do is second-guess New England. They always seem to make the right moves. I know (Moss) was a big leader in that locker room so to get rid of a guy like that you never know how a team is going to take that.’’
Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis said, “I was surprised when he got traded, surprised New England would do something like that because he’s a big part of their offense. They don’t have as vertical game now. They’re probably going to be short to intermediate now.’’
Rex Ryan said, “They know their team a lot better than we do. I just know he’s a huge threat. Generally, wherever he goes he takes two (defenders) with him. Maybe (the Patriots) have the next Randy Moss out there. Well see.’’

The only Jets player to not practice at all Wednesday was LB Jamaal Westerman (ankle).
Linebacker Calvin Pace (foot), C Nick Mangold (shoulder), LB Jason Taylor (elbow), T Wayne Hunter (leg) and DE Shaun Ellis (knee) were limited but are expected to play.
