Jets reserve cornerback Rashard Robinson was suspended by the NFL Wednesday for the teams first four games for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

Robinson was arrested in December in Hanover Township, N.J., and charged with drug possession and carelessly driving. He was pulled over in his 2018 Mercedes Benz and the police smelled marijuana. They found “THC infused Peanut Budda Buddah Candy” in Robinson’s possession.

The Jets acquired Robinson from the 49ers at the trade deadline last year. They sent San Francisco a fifth-round pick for him. It was a strange move because Robinson was known to be a character risk dating back to his days at LSU.

Robinson played just 20 defensive snaps last year. He enters training camp buried on the depth chart at cornerback and would have had to fight to even make the roster. Now he can participate in training camp and the preseason but won’t be eligible to play until Week 5 against the Broncos on Oct. 7.

The NFL has yet to announce it, but the NFL Network reported last week that wide receiver ArDarius Stewart is facing a two-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Wide receiver Robby Anderson, linebacker Dylan Donahue and tight end Chris Herndon all face potential discipline, too, for recent arrests.
