Grading the Jets’ 15-10 loss to the Patriots at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Offense

Except for one drive, this group barely showed up. The Jets had a total of 171 yards — and 87 of those came on their one touchdown drive in the fourth quarter. QB Zach Wilson (18-of-36, 157 yards, 61.9 rating) was terrible for most of the game. The Jets could not run the ball, gaining just 38 yards on the ground. RB Breece Hall (12 rushes, 18 yards) and WR Garrett Wilson (5 catches, 48 yards) were non-factors.

Grade: F

Defense

The defense did enough to win this game, allowing just 13 points. They shut the Patriots down for most of the game. With that being said, there were still areas for improvement. A busted coverage led to a 58-yard touchdown pass from QB Mac Jones (15-of-29, 201 yards, 1 TD, 85.6 rating) and they let up some big third downs (8-of-19 for the Patriots). The Jets also failed to get any takeaways to help out the offense.

Special Teams

Thomas Morstead may have been the best player for the Jets on Sunday. The punter averaged 51.3 yards on eight punts and continually put the Patriots in bad field position. Greg Zuerlein made his one field goal attempt of the day. Xavier Gipson had a 30-yard kickoff return and averaged 9.8 yards on four punt returns.

Grade: B

Jets coach Robert Saleh is now 0-5 against the Patriots. The Jets haven’t defeated the Pats since 2015. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post Jets coach Robert Saleh is now 0-5 against the Patriots. The Jets haven’t defeated the Pats since 2015. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post

Coaching

This is a split grade and is not an F only because of the job by the defensive coaches, who did a good job game-planning for the Patriots. New England struggled to get anything going offensively and the Jets gave up only one explosive play for a touchdown. On offense, Nathaniel Hackett had no answers for the Patriots. The Jets failed to establish a running game or take advantage of a New England secondary that was missing two of its top three cornerbacks. Jets offensive players are clearly frustrated with the play-calling. Robert Saleh is going to have work to do to keep his locker room together.

Grade: D
