Jets running back Breece Hall took to X on Monday to weigh in on the team’s spending on the first day of free agency.
“Damn we sure got a lot of money in Florham Park all these contracts dudes signing,” Hall posted along with laughing emojis.
The Jets recently placed the franchise tag on Hall to keep him from hitting free agency. He will make $14.3 million this year if he does not reach a long-term deal with the Jets before the July 15 deadline.
Breece Hall has reached at least 800 rushing yards in the last three years. Robert Sabo for NY PostIt was unclear what Hall meant by the post. Hall likes to have fun on social media and was likely just joking. He replied to some of the responses to his post, indicating he was happy the team was signing free agents.
“I’m happy we spending shii we need to!” Hall replied to another X user.
The Jets’ decision to use the franchise tag on Breece Hall is their first time doing so since 2021. Charles Wenzelberg / New York PostHall also posted: “I definitely be pocket watching in free agency lmao.”
The Jets lost the player who may have been their most consistent performer in 2025 — kicker Nick Folk. The Falcons gave Folk a two-year deal Monday, according to a source. It is not known how much money he received, but it was likely higher than the Jets were willing to go. Folk made 28 of 29 field goal attempts after signing with the Jets in training camp. The Jets will now be searching for a new kicker for the second straight year.
LB Quincy Williams agreed to a deal with the Browns on Monday. Williams’ departure from the Jets was expected. Williams will be reunited with former Jets linebackers coach Mike Rutenberg, who is the new Browns defensive coordinator. Cleveland signed him to a two-year deal worth up to $17 million, according to reports.
It looks like the Jets will need a new starter at left guard. John Simpson agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract with the Ravens on Monday, according to reports. Simpson has been the Jets starter for the past two seasons. The team also lost guard Alijah Vera-Tucker to the Patriots in free agency.
