Take flight with the Jets
Text with Brian Costello all season as he brings Sports+ subscribers the latest Jets intel from on the field and off.
tRY IT NOWJets running back Braelon Allen suffered an MCL sprain during Monday night’s loss in Miami and will likely be placed on the injured reserve list — for a minimum stint of four weeks — The Post confirmed. Allen is expected to seek additional medical opinions.
The 21-year-old second-stringer — who coughed up a key fumble near the goal line in the 27-21 loss to the Dolphins — left the game after injuring his left knee during a kick return in the second quarter.
Allen, a 2024 fourth-round pick, struggled to put weight on the injured leg as he walked to the locker room.
Head coach Aaron Glenn said he isn’t sure how long Allen will be sidelined.
Braelon Allen leaves the Jets-Dolphins game with a knee injury on Sept. 29, 2025. Charles Wenzelberg/New York Post“I wish I had an answer for that right now,” Glenn said Tuesday. “I really don’t know how serious it is … I’m hopeful it’s not, but we’ll see.”
Through four games, Allen has rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, along with two receptions for 17 yards.
After leaving Monday’s game, Breece Hall was given his most carries (14) since the season opener, rushing for 81 yards, while making a season-high five receptions for 30 yards.
The Jets currently rank third in the NFL in rushing (144.5 yards per game) after gaining 197 yards on the ground (7 yards per carry) against the Dolphins.
“I’m encouraged by our run game,” Glenn said. “I thought Breece did a hell of a job of toting the ball.”
Isaiah Williams isn’t following Xavier Gipson — yet.
Williams, who was signed off the Bengals practice squad after Gipson’s costly Week 1 fumble resulted in the latter’s release from the Jets, put his job as the Jets return man in jeopardy after a disastrous performance Monday night.

Williams, an undrafted receiver out of Illinois, opened the second half of a one-possession game by fumbling the kick return. Then, he inexplicably called for a fair catch on the Jets 3-yard line in the fourth quarter.
Glenn wouldn’t confirm whether Williams will retain his role, but the coach doesn’t appear ready to send another returner to the waiver wire yet.
“We brought him in to be our returner,” Glenn said. “He made two critical mistakes, and I understand that, but they’re also mistakes that he has to learn from. I’m not gonna sit here and say that he’s gonna lose his job over that. Listen, he has to get better. I do know that. Those things can’t happen again. But we’re gonna continue to look at that and try to teach him and get him focused on doing the right things for us.”
Cornerback Michael Carter II, who left Monday’s game with a head injury, is in concussion protocol. Glenn acknowledged the short week could make it difficult for Carter to be cleared before Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. … Glenn is “hopeful” that linebacker Jermaine Johnson (ankle) will be available after missing the past two games.
