Jeremy Ruckert doesn’t want to wake up anytime soon.

The tight end, who was raised a Jets fan on Long Island and fulfilled his childhood dream when the team selected him in the 2022 draft, recommitted to the franchise on Wednesday by signing a two-year, $10 million contract extension.

Ruckert was due to become a free agent in the offseason and is the second player who was recently re-signed by new general manager Darren Mougey, who also gave center Josh Myers a two-year extension

“I know people might think it gets old, but I live a dream every day,” Ruckert said Wednesday. “I get to put on this uniform and run out of the locker room with a team I used to sit in the stands and watch, so I never take it lightly. I play every snap with that sense of pride and passion because I’m just living the dream. To be able to get the support and commitment from them to keep me here for another couple years and build this thing is something that I really appreciate.”

Ruckert has appeared in all 14 games this season, making a career-high 20 catches for 163 yards and a touchdown, while serving as the team’s top-blocking tight end and a special teams contributor.

Since recording just one reception in his rookie season, the former third-round pick has 54 receptions for 419 yards.

“I’m one of the coaches that’s as hard on Ruck as anybody and the reason why is there is so much meat on the bone in him improving,” head coach Aaron Glenn said. “He’s improved so much from the start of training camp up until now. He’s tough, he’s physical, he’s versatile. He’s one of those guys we can put in the fullback position. Obviously, he can play the tight end position. You can flex him out. He’s one of those guys, run and pass game, he’s been pretty valuable for us. … He’s one of those guys that can do both. That’s a true value for us in a system that we’re trying to build here.”

Jets linebacker Quincy Williams played last week’s game in Jacksonville with a fractured right hand and will continue to wear a protective cast during games. … Mason Taylor (neck), Tony Adams (groin), Eric Watts (concussion) and Kiko Mauigoa (neck) have been ruled out for Sunday’s game in New Orleans.
