There’s certainly a new philosophy in Florham Park.

Aaron Glenn is approaching the Jets’ first preseason game similar to how he’s handled much of training camp — aggressively, and not holding much back.

He will play Justin Fields and the rest of his starters in Saturday’s road game against the Packers.

“Because I want to play,” Glenn said after practice Thursday. “That’s the reason. I want our guys to play, that’s the reason.”

Glenn did not say how long he will leave the starters in for.

“Every time we go on the grass, the first thing we expect is to win,” Glenn said. “I do. But I expect to win in ways that we talk about in what we’re trying to create during camp. I don’t want to ever go out in a game and everything that we talk about trying to build, how we’re trying to get this team to operate, I want to make sure that’s showing up on the tape. That’s important to me. I want the score to be in our favor, I do, but more than anything, I want the things that we’re trying to create to show up every play that we’re out there. That’s what I’m looking for.”

Glenn’s decision marks a departure from his predecessor, Robert Saleh, who did not play Aaron Rodgers and the majority of his starters at all during last year’s preseason games.

Sauce Gardner has seen a new level from Garrett Wilson.

“You can tell he’s been on it,” Gardner said. “Self-talk, ‘Gotta do this better.’ There is something that happened in his life that’s making him attack the game in a different way right now. I don’t know what it is that happened, but he’s trying to work on everything. In the weight room, he’s trying to perfect his craft. When he gets out there on the field, he’s trying to perfect his craft. Literally everything to show people he’s worth what he’s worth.”

Isaiah Davis is behind Breece Hall and Braelon Allen on the depth chart at running back.

What is it like sharing the ball while also competing with each other?

“We’re all super tight,” Davis said. “We all trust each other, whatever the situation is. For me, my biggest thing is, whenever my number is called, I’m trying to execute. Not gonna worry too much about what they got going on.”

Davis pointed to has pass-catching as to how he complements the other two.

“My hands,” Davis said. “I’m super confident in my hands, being able to catch out of the backfield, whether that be third down, second-and long, being that extra receiver.”
