MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Justin Fields was back in the saddle for the Jets on Monday night after sitting out last week’s game in Tampa with a concussion.
As he did on Opening Day, Fields showed flashes of why the Jets wanted to bring him in to run the offense. He even got on his horse for a 43-yard touchdown on a scramble that would have been fun to track on GPS.

It all added up to a 27-21 loss to the Dolphins that sent the Jets to 0-4 to start the Aaron Glenn era.
Fields finished the game with 81 yards rushing on seven carries. He was 20-of-27 passing for 226 yards and a touchdown.
The offense committed two of the three Jets turnovers and committed nine accepted penalties, including five pre-snap fouls. Fields is 14-33 as a starting quarterback for the Bears, Steelers and Jets.
“We played all right as a team, but those penalties and turnovers are unacceptable,” Fields said.

Late in the second quarter, with the Jets trailing 10-0, Glenn eschewed a potential 55-yard field goal attempt by Nick Folk and instead went for a fourth-and-5 from the Dolphins 38.
Fields was sacked by Tyrel Dodson. He fumbled and Miami’s Jaelan Phillips recovered.

Asked if he’d do anything differently on that play, Fields said, “Hold on to the ball.”
After the Jets defense held, Fields directed a 10-play drive that ended in a career-long 58-yard field goal by Folk to cut the halftime deficit for the Jets to 10-3.
The next time Fields touched the ball, the Jets were down 17-3 after Isaiah Williams fumbled the second-half kickoff and Tua Tagovailoa found Darren Waller in the end zone.

On his 43-yard touchdown run, he scrambled to his right before cutting back to the middle of the field and ending up outside the numbers on the left side as he juked his way around defenders and into the end zone.
That made the score 17-10 Miami.
After the two-minute warning, Fields connected with Garrett Wilson for a 23-yard touchdown pass in the back right corner of the end zone.
Fields then ran in the two-point conversion for the final margin of 27-21.
“I’m not losing faith. Nobody in the locker room is losing faith,” Fields said. “We have 13 games left, so we can go on a run here. Keep building, keep working, just keep going.”
