Observations from the first Jets practice of training camp on Wednesday:
Fields of Play
Justin Fields connected with a wide-open Garrett Wilson on a long pass on the fifth pass of the first-team period Wednesday.
Justin Fields throws the ball during the first practice at Jets training camp. Bill Kostroun/New York PostFields went 5-of-8 in team drills and the deep ball was the highlight of the day.
Corely Groan
Second-year WR Malachi Corley practiced on Wednesday after missing much of the spring, but he had a bad drop on a pass from QB Brady Cook.
Corley had a disappointing rookie season and needs to impress the new coaching staff. This was not a good start.
Caught My Eye
CB Brandon Stephens deflected a Fields pass in the backfield on a blitz. The Jets defense rarely blitzed under Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich.
Jets coach Aaron Glenn looks on during practice at training camp. Bill Kostroun/New York PostThat is clearly going to change under Aaron Glenn and Steve Wilks.
Injury Report
The Jets enter training camp very healthy.
The only players missing Wednesday were DE Jermaine Johnson and WR Irv Charles, who are both on the PUP list to start camp as they recover from major injuries suffered last season.
