The Jets are getting their quarterback back.

Justin Fields will play and start Monday night against the Dolphins in a battle of winless AFC East rivals, coach Aaron Glenn said after practice Saturday.

Fields suffered a concussion — the first of his football career — in the Jets’ Week 2 loss to the Bills and was out last Sunday.

But he has been able to practice this week and was cleared Friday, according to Glenn.

“I feel good,” Fields said in his first public comments since suffering the head injury. “I had an idea, but of course with this concussion stuff — this was my first — some days you feel good and some days the symptoms come right back. But right now, I feel good and hopefully I continue to feel this way when Monday comes.”

The 26-year-old signal-caller had never dealt with a concussion before, and admitted the symptoms were stronger than he expected.

They included migraine headaches and sensitivity to light. He also struggled to focus. He didn’t really feel like himself until a few days ago.

“Just small stuff like that, it was kind of weird to me,” said Fields, who spoke to a number of teammates about how to deal with a concussion, including backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor and tight end Jeremy Ruckert. “You just got to be smart with it. You can play through soft-tissue injuries and stuff like that, but I’m going to need my brain the rest of my life. So the most important thing is just me being smart and not putting myself at risk for the long term.”

Taylor started in place of Fields in the Jets’ loss to the Buccaneers last Sunday and performed well, nearly leading them back from a 17-point, second-half deficit.

Fields was at home watching.

“Of course it was terrible not being there, but after Will [McDonald] blocked that field goal, just know I was going crazy in the crib,” Fields said. “Close game, I thought guys fought hard until the end, and I was proud overall how we battled back.”

Fields excelled in the season opener, throwing for 218 yards and producing three touchdowns, but struggled the following week before suffering the injury.

The hope is the Jets will see the player from Week 1 more often than the latter.

The injury isn’t going to change how the mobile Fields plays. He’s still going to run plenty. He won’t be gun-shy.

“I’ve always kind of had the mindset when I run to get down and protect myself,” Fields said. “I don’t think when you’re playing ball you can think in a different way. You’ve just got to go out there and play ball.”

By kickoff time, Fields will have had 15 days since he last stepped on the field.

That’s plenty of time to think about his shaky performance against the Bills, and trying to get his new team its first victory of the year.

“We both have yet to get a win this season, so it’s a big game for both of us,” the Jets’ quarterback said. “On a Monday night, not much of a bigger stage, either. I know we’re going in there to win by any means and they’re probably doing the same thing. We’re excited, we’re prepared and ready to go.”
