The heroes and zeros from the Jets’ 29-27 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday:

Hero

Chase McLaughlin made 5-of-6 field goals, including the walk-off 36-yarder as time expired. Two of his field goals were from 53 and 54 yards and the last one made up for a blocked one returned for a touchdown just two minutes earlier.

Unsung Hero

It was lost in the crazy fourth quarter, but for most of the game the biggest play was Jamel Dean’s 55-yard interception return for a touchdown that turned a 13-6 lead into a 20-6 lead. He jumped a route when Garrett Wilson didn’t come back for the ball.

Zero

Jets defensive coordinator Steve Wilks didn’t have a call to make Baker Mayfield uncomfortable on the game-winning 48-yard scoring drive and his unit only had one sack and two quarterback hits despite facing an offensive line missing three starters.

Key Stat

1: First down gained on the Jets’ final five first-half possessions combined as their offense started fast and finished fast but disappeared in the middle.

Quote

“We have to delete the negative things in our game, the small things that are helping us lose games. We have to get it out fast because … you don’t want to look up and be 0-10.” – Quinnen Williams.
