NFL fans have known for months that Joe Buck and Troy Aikman would be taking over the “Monday Night Football” booth following their lengthy tenure at Fox. But seeing the duo in real time on ESPN didn’t make matters any less strange.

During Monday’s broadcast of the Seahawks’ upset win over the Broncos, which served as Buck and Aikman’s official debut, fans summed up the viewing experience on Twitter in a few words or less: “Extremely weird.”

“Extremely weird seeing Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on a network not named FOX,” one fan opined, while another penned, “Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on ESPN feels so weird. Like seeing your English teacher at Target during summer break.”

Another general consensus summarized by fans is that there would be an adjustment period to seeing Buck and Aikman on a new network.

“It’s going to take some getting used to hearing Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the booth for Monday Night Football,” one viewer noted, as another remarked, “Listening to Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on Monday Night Football is really messing with me. Everything in my body is telling me is 4:30 PM on Sunday.”

ESPN announced the additions of Buck and Aikman in March, about a month after The Post’s Andrew Marchand first reported that Aikman was on the verge of departing Fox. Aikman agreed to a five-year contract worth $90 million, according to sources, while Buck scored a five-year, $75 million deal.

Fox, meanwhile, bumped up Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen to its lead NFL team, with the pair set to call Super Bowl 2023 in February. Upon his second NFL retirement, Tom Brady will slide into the Fox booth, where he’ll work alongside Burkhardt.
