SiriusXM NFL host and reporter John Clayton talks about the NFL coaching carousel and Eli Manning’s future with The Post’s Justin Terranova.

Q: Why has Matt Rhule been such a popular name?

A: Everyone is looking for that next offensive coach, the next Sean McVay, and what ends up is happening is you have so many guys who have been hired there’s hardly anybody left in the league. That’s why it’s now kind of gone back to two options: You can take second-time-around coaches or you can now go into college. It’s hard to get college coaches, but at least Matt is one that would consider doing it. A college job can be so secure — you can survive a bad year. … At some point, Jim Harbaugh is probably going to listen — could be this year. You’re not going to get the Lincoln Rileys, Dabo Swinneys, guys like that. It’s kind of like, where is that next wave?

Q: Which of the assistant coaches jump out to you as a top coaching candidate?

A: Greg Roman. That’s why I think he has a decent chance to get the job in Dallas because he is able to construct running schemes in San Francisco with Colin Kaepernick and now look what he’s doing with Lamar Jackson. Kevin Stefanski (Vikings) has done a nice job, but you just don’t know where he stands in the hierarchy because he’s only been calling plays for a limited amount of time.

Q: Are you surprised the Giants kept Dave Gettleman?

A: You see the change in general managers at a higher pace. They are looking at it like he got the quarterback and some good young players. I could understand it if they would have fired him because the team won four games. You could see there’s not friction, but the ownership groups are not on the same page. Sometimes it’s better to wait it out and see if in another year you want to make the change. But now you have to make the case that the owners are making the decision on the coach, not necessarily Gettleman.

Q: What are the chances Eli Manning plays another NFL snap?

A: There’s a chance, probably not a good chance. I don’t know if I buy the idea that the Colts would bring him in to challenge Jacoby Brissett. There’s a limitation to the number of teams that would bring in a quarterback that old. If you look at the landscape, would John Elway do it? I think he’d be willing to do it more on a Tom Brady. So, I say 80 percent chance that (Eli) just retires.

Q: Will Brady be back with the Patriots?

A: I am not 100 percent sure he will be. I think there’s a chance, but I don’t buy the logic that is coming out of the New England area (about him selling his house). I just can’t envision Robert Kraft allowing that to happen. Brady has meant so much to the franchise the past two decades. I still think in the end Brady is going to be there.
