Former Jets general manager John Idzik has landed a new full-time job in the NFL. The Jaguars have hired him as special assistant to the general manager, the Florida Times-Union reported.

Idzik had been working as a consultant for the Jaguars since March mainly working on the salary cap. But Dave Caldwell said in his new role he will do more than that.

“He’ll do a little bit of everything,” Caldwell told the paper. “He’s a great cultural fit for us. He has a great understanding of the salary cap and the different ways to do a contract.”

Caldwell also said Idzik will do some college and pro scouting, which proved to be his undoing with the Jets. Idzik lasted just two years with the Jets, assembling a terrible roster in 2014 that led to a 4-12 season and the firing of both him and coach Rex Ryan.
