Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard that Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston and may be traded in the offseason. Just about half the league has been mentioned as a potential target for Watson, from the Jets to the Dolphins to the Panthers to the Washington Football Team.

Another destination that has recently been a subject of conversation is the Las Vegas Raiders. Reports surfaced earlier in the week that the Raiders may be willing to trade current quarterback Derek Carr, and that he may fetch two first-round picks – which the team could theoretically flip to the Texans for Watson.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden was asked about this possibility as a guest on “The Cris Collinsworth Podcast with Richard Sherman,” but he didn’t seem too optimistic.

“I personally look at this like a fantasy world here,” Gruden said. “They have a new GM (Nick Caserio) in Houston who comes from New England, he just went through a year in New England without Tom Brady. I think he has a pretty good idea how important Deshaun Watson is to the Texans.

“I don’t think there’s any way in the world they trade Deshaun Watson and if they did, the compensation is going to kind of be like the Rams, you’ll have to give up seven number ones, you’ll never draft again.”

Both Caserio and new Texans coach David Culley have maintained that they have no interest in trading Watson, but Watson’s camp has also maintained that he will not play for the Texans again. If he were to be traded, Gruden’s estimate of seven first round picks might not be too far off.

On the same podcast, Gruden not-so-subtly tampered with Richard Sherman, saying that if the non-free agent was “available and interested, maybe you and I can get together at some point off air.”
