Julian Edelman is still confused.

Last Friday, he was having a catch with Tom Brady at Gillette Stadium and now he is facing a four-game suspension.

“I am very sorry — I don’t know what happened,” Edelman said in a statement via his Instagram story. “I’ve taken many, many tests obviously over the course of my career, and nothing like this has ever happened.”

ESPN reported Thursday that the suspension is a result of the 32-year-old’s violation of the NFL’s performance-enhancing substance policy. Edelman’s apology confirmed the suspension and that he is appealing the ban.

The two-time Super Bowl champ apologized to the Kraft family, his coaches, teammates and fans in his social media message.

“I will be ready to play and pursue another championship with our team and for patriots fans around the world,” Edelman wrote.

After missing all of last season with an ACL tear, the 5-foot-10 wide receiver was a highly anticipated return for the 2018 season. The Patriots would have to face Houston, Jacksonville, Detroit and Miami without Edelman if the appeal fails.

Alex Guerreo, “TB12” leader and someone Edelman visited for rehab last season, released a statement Thursday on Edelman’s suspension.

“I’ve known Julian since his rookie year and he is a phenomenal athlete who takes his training seriously — it’s disappointing to hear today’s news,” Guerrero wrote in a statement posted on the Patriots website. “Elite athletes sometimes work with multiple coaches and health professionals as part of their training.”

There has been speculation as to TB12’s involvement in Edelman’s failed PED test.

“Here at our facility, we take a natural, holistic, appropriate and, above all, legal approach to training and recovery for all of our clients. And anyone who would suggest otherwise is irresponsible, and just plain wrong,” Guerrero said.
