Like the rest of Patriots Nation, Julian Edelman is also coping with the news that Tom Brady is out of New England after 20 seasons.
On Tuesday, the six-time Super Bowl champ said goodbye to the Patriots, revealing “it is time for me to open a new stage for my life and career.” Edelman responded a couple of hours later with a photo of the two and “family” as the caption.
Tom Brady and Julian EdelmanGetty ImagesEdelman, who has shared his entire 11-year career with Brady in New England, has spent the offseason pleading with his teammate and friend to remain a Patriot, even selling “Stay Tom” merchandise on his official website.
“New England is a Tomocracy. #StayTom,” Edelman posted on Instagram in late February, showing off a “Stay Tom” top with a goat detail on the sleeve, representing the “greatest of all time.”
Edelman later doubled down pleading for Brady’s return while appearing on-camera last month at a Syracuse-UNC basketball game in central New York.
“He’s coming back, he’s coming back,” Edelman said while Brady sat beside him uncomfortably.
Now we know why Brady was cringing.
