The wheels continue to fall off the Browns’ 2019 season.
Following a 38-24 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday — which reportedly included the sideline spectacles of Browns players following Odell Beckham’s lead in shouting, “Come get me,” to the opposing team, as well as a heated exchange between head coach Freddie Kitchens and star receiver Jarvis Landry — running back Kareem Hunt poured gasoline on the ever-burning fire in Cleveland, calling out his teammates over a lack of effort.
“Yeah, I feel like there were some plays that everybody didn’t leave their 110 percent out there the whole play through the whole play, through the whole whistle,” Hunt said, according to Cleveland.com. “And we’ve all got to do that if we want to be successful.”
Hunt came to the Browns this year on a one-year deal, following his release from the Chiefs after being caught on video attacking a female college student in a Cleveland hotel last year.
Hunt, who was suspended for the first eight games of the season, rushed for 14 yards in Sunday’s game and had eight receptions for 62 yards.
“I’m one of those guys that’s going to go out there and lay my body on the line each and every play. I ain’t going to worry about everything else,” he said. “I’m just going to control the things I can control and if that’s making a block, or running a route, catching a pass, I know what I’m able to do when I get my opportunities running the football.”
Hunt, 24, said he believes Cleveland has “all the pieces.”
“It’s just going out there and playing as a team and everybody playing hard each and every play and no taking plays off or nothing like that and just finishing,” he said.
With their playoff hopes essentially extinguished with a 6-8 record, the Browns have two more opportunities to finish games as a collective unit.
“We’ve got to finish and we’ve got to come out strong, and that’s usually our thing,” Hunt said.
