This was another embarrassing moment for NFL referees.

When Atlanta Falcons safety Keanu Neal went down with an injury late in the second quarter Sunday in Indianapolis, he threw his helmet as he was on the ground in pain.

Rather than realizing Neal was clearly just showing frustration over being hurt, the officials decided to flag Neal for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play.

Neal had to be carted off the field. He was diagnosed with an Achilles injury and was ruled out for the rest of he game.

The 24-year-old Neal, a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, made the Pro Bowl in 2017. He tore his ACL in the 2018 opener and missed the rest of the season.
