Saturday’s night out at the Lakers game is one evening Kelly Stafford will never forget.
“Legit, if I could write up an ideal date night, that would have been it,” the wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford said Tuesday on her podcast, “The Morning After with Kelly Stafford.”
Over the weekend, the couple sat courtside at Crypto.Com Arena, where they watched LeBron James put up 56 points in the Lakers’ 124-116 win over the Warriors. During the game, James — who let loose at SoFi Stadium in February, when Stafford and the Rams won the Super Bowl — was seen telling the 34-year-old quarterback that he had to “put on a show” with him in attendance.

“If I had to meet someone — and we had met him one time before, but not really me, him and Matthew — he’s one where I lose my cool,” Kelly said of James, whose performance helped the Lakers snap a four-game losing streak.
Kelly added how she was touched by a “classy” gesture from James, who personally congratulated the Staffords on their first-ever Super Bowl win.

And then turned to me, wiped his hand, and stuck it out and shook my hand and said, ‘Hey, congratulations you, too,” Kelly recalled.
“It was really endearing and a cool moment because obviously I watch Matthew meet all these people, and he is blown away by LeBron… The fact that LeBron took a second and even said anything to me I thought was very classy, kind, and all things.”
The Staffords have been enjoying quite the victory lap since the Rams defeated the Bengals in Super Bowl 2022. From a Disneyland celebration to a weekend in Las Vegas, it’s been a dizzying few weeks for the longtime couple, who share four young daughters.

Stafford was traded to the Rams in January 2021 after spending the first 12 seasons of his career in Detroit with the Lions.
