Kelly Stafford isn’t pleased about history repeating.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford — who was recently put on the reserve/COVID-19 list — confirmed she and her family had tested negative, also calling attention to the “nightmare” she and the family endured over the summer when Matthew received a false positive test.
“Here we go again,” Kelly posted to her Instagram story, before delving into detail about the situation.
“I appreciate everyone reaching out and giving us well-wishes when actually we are fine,” Kelly said in a video. “We’re all negative, my husband is negative, there was just a certain exposure, so we have been testing since our exposure and we are all negative.”
On Wednesday, the Lions placed Stafford on the reserve/COVID-19 list, according to ESPN, who also reported the quarterback is considered “high-risk, close contact” from a non-team member. Should Stafford continue to test negatively for the novel coronavirus, he could join his team again Sunday.
The Lions faces the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon.
As for Kelly, who shares four young children with Stafford, she also scoffed at the league Wednesday, stating, “Thank you again NFL for throwing my family out there when no one is positive.”
InstagramIn August, Kelly lashed out at the league in response to Stafford’s false positive.
“The past four days have been somewhat of a nightmare,” Kelly said at the time. “We were all tested the day after and we were all negative, including Matthew…then he tested negative again, then again, again and again.”
The incident resulted in the NFL revising its testing protocols.
