Mac Jones has some company.
The Patriots quarterback was not alone in voicing his frustrations as the team struggled to mount an offensive attack against the Bills in a 24-10 loss on Thursday night.
“We got to get the ball downfield,” receiver Kendrick Bourne told reporters. “I think Mac needs more time. He’s obviously running around, so it’s hard to get the ball downfield when you can’t really have time for him to throw. No knock to the line, it’s just what we need to work on. The receivers can’t do nothing if the ball can’t get downfield. If we can’t throw it past five yards, it’s going to be a long game.
“We have plays, but we can’t get to them. We’re calling them, but they’re just not working.”
Bourne, who caught one pass for 15 yards on the night, took issue with the lack of third-down adjustments as the Patriots converted just three of their 12 opporunities on the night.
“Yeah, man, we need to scheme up better,” the 27-year-old said. “We need to know what they’re doing. We need to know what they wanna do on third down. … They call this, and we call that, and it falls right into what they want.”

Jones and beleaguered offensive coordinator Matt Patricia appear to be out of sync, with the second-year pass-thrower letting his emotions over the play-calling bubble over on the sidelines on Thursday.
“Throw the f—ing ball!” Jones seemingly yelled. “The quick game sucks!”
Postgame, Jones said his outburst wasn’t directed at anyone specific, though he did feel the offense needed to pivot from the short game to “chunk plays.”
