LaDainian Tomlinson has questioned whether former Chargers offensive coordinator Cam Cameron intentionally tanked a playoff game so he could move on to a head coaching job in a jaw-dropping conspiracy theory.
Tomlinson, the Chargers’ longtime star running back who finished his Hall of Fame career with the Jets, made the claim on a recent episode of The Pivot podcast with ex-NFLers Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor, suggesting Cameron wanted to be done with his Chargers obligations to focus on getting a new job during a busy coaching cycle.
The Chargers, after going an NFL-best 14-2, lost to the Patriots at home in the 2006-07 divisional round after leading by 11 late in the first half and eight in the middle of the fourth quarter.

After rushing 14 times for 79 yards and a touchdown and catching two passes for 64 yards in the first half, Tomlinson got nine carries for 44 yards and a touchdown in the second half of the 24-21 loss.
Cameron then left the Chargers to become the Dolphins head coach.
“So in my mind, did we just throw the game? For a head coaching job?” Tomlinson wondered on the podcast.

“How do I not get the ball?” Tomlinson asked.
Dolphins fans likely have their own questions about Cameron, who went 1-15 in 2007 with Miami and was fired after just one season before becoming the Ravens offensive coordinator.

“We’ve all had a chance to think about this stuff, process it, and the fact that someone gets it right after we lose — ‘Guys, I appreciate everything. You guys played hard for me. I’m gonna take this Miami job.’ What?” Tomlinson said.
That year was Tomlinson’s sixth in the league and the Chargers hadn’t won a playoff game during that span. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer was fired after the playoff loss.
