Larry Fitzgerald was interrupted in his postgame media scrum when a reporter’s phone rang following the Cardinals’ 27-13 win over the Seahawks on Sunday.
It just so happened that reporter was his father, Larry Fitzgerald Sr.
“Can we get some professionalism here, please,” Fitzgerald joked, according to a video that has since gone viral.
Fitzgerald Sr. has spent 40 years in sports media in the Twin Cities, ranging from newspaper, radio and television. For the past 35 years, he has served as the sports editor and columnist for the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder, one of the oldest African American news journals in the country.
His son caught four passes for 48 yards and a touchdown in what could be his second-to-last game ever. A 16-year veteran, Fitzgerald has been rumored to be considering retirement. The future Hall-of-Famer was selected third overall in the 2004 draft – two picks behind Eli Manning and one spot ahead of Phillip Rivers.
