ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” had a Hall of Fame receiver leave the show, but now it is adding a future Hall of Fame receiver, The Post has learned.
Larry Fitzgerald Jr. is joining ESPN, according to sources. He will be a part of “Monday Night Countdown,” the pregame show to “Monday Night Football.” The program was already going to have a new look as Randy Moss cut his workload with his new contract to just ESPN’s Sunday pregame.
Fitzgerald will make his debut on the show prior to ESPN’s opener in Seattle on Monday before Broncos-Seahawks.
Fitzgerald will be on about five-to-seven shows this season. Alex Smith last year had a similar role to see if he liked doing the programs and re-signed for this year, as well.
ESPN declined comment.
Countdown has already added Robert Griffin III to be a main contributor, joining Suzy Kolber, Booger McFarland, Steve Young, Adam Schefter and Smith.
