Will Bengals rookie Evan McPherson end his first NFL season as a Super Bowl champ?

The 22-year-old kicker, who has been heralded for his game-day heroics during Cincinnati’s playoff run, will play in his first-ever Super Bowl on Sunday, when the Bengals face the Rams in Los Angeles.

And while Rams fans are hoping to see a sea of blue on Super Bowl Sunday, McPherson’s favorite fan, fiancée Gracie Groat, will likely be rocking orange and black at SoFi Stadium.

Here’s a look at Groat and McPherson’s longtime romance.

McPherson, who hails from Fort Payne, Alabama, appears to have been dating Groat since they were teens. Back in 2017, McPherson asked Groat to prom with a few track-inspired puns.

In an Instagram post shared on Groat’s page, McPherson is seen holding a sign that read, “You’re a ‘track’ tive, will you kick it at prom?”

Months later, Groat posted an adorable photo of the couple in their prom-day best. “Prom number 2 and he’s still sweeping me off my feet,” she captioned the post.

McPherson played college football at the University of Florida from 2018 through 2020. During his time as a Gator, Groat would share sweet snaps of the couple on game days, with McPherson rocking his uniform.

“The best weekend with my favorite people!!! The most ecstatic game I have EVER been to!!!! So proud of you,” Groat gushed in October 2019.

McPherson opted to forgo his senior season and declared for the 2021 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Bengals in the fifth round, 149th overall.

“Ev’s the most humble and the most deserving,” Groat, a junior at Auburn, exclaimed on Instagram in May 2021. “So thankful the Lord place me by your side to cheer you on! Been through a lot with ya @evan_mcpherson04 and could not be more proud! Ready to take on Bengal nation too!”

In his first NFL season, McPherson has made 28 of 33 attempted field goals. McPherson has continued to make magic happen for the Bengals throughout the playoffs, as the team recorded its first postseason win in January 2022 after 31 years.

After kicking the Bengals to the AFC Championship with a win over the top-seeded Titans, McPherson hit a 31-yarder to top the Chiefs in overtime to secure a Super Bowl berth.

Groat has been along for the Bengals’ wild ride this season every step of the way. In fact, during a Dec. 2021 outing, Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend — a Florida alum like McPherson — went on to dub the “legendary combo” on Instagram “the GOAT and the Groat!!”

McPherson and Groat have been engaged since July 2021.
