Micah Parsons and the Cowboys aren’t anywhere close to reaching a deal, and the All-Pro linebacker is considering “drastic measures,” such as a trade request or even cutting ties with the team, The Athletic reported Friday.

Parsons, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, reportedly negotiated on his behalf with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over multiple days in the spring, and the team believed they had reached an agreement.

When Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, reached out in an attempt to negotiate further, the Cowboys wouldn’t budge as they wanted the four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher to honor the deal they thought was in place, per the report.

The Cowboys now refuse to engage with Parsons’ agent, and the standoff is seemingly getting worse by the day.

Last month, Jones called out his star player in a press conference for missing time due to an ankle injury last year.

“[If] we sign him, doesn’t mean we’re going to have him. He was hurt six games last year, seriously,” Jones said, although Parsons missed four games. “I remember signing a player for the highest paid at the position in the league and he got knocked out two-thirds of the year, Dak Prescott, so there’s a lot of things you can think about, just as the player does when you’re thinking about committing and guaranteeing money.

“Contracts are four, five years, okay? There’s a lot of water under the bridge if you step out there and do something in the first two or three. You can get hit by a car. Seriously.”

Parsons appeared in 13 games last season and finished with 12 sacks and 12 tackles for loss. He also made the Pro Bowl for the fourth year in a row.

The 26-year-old has reported to training camp but has not participated in on-field work.

While speaking to reporters last week, Parsons made it clear he wants an extension and wants to remain in Dallas.

Things have apparently taken a turn for the worse since.
