Michael Irvin isn’t happy with Tyrann Mathieu.
The Hall of Fame wide receiver didn’t like the Chiefs safety’s since-deleted tweet about Tom Brady after the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl 2021 win on Sunday. After a heated exchange with Brady before halftime, Mathieu wrote on Twitter, “He called me something I won’t repeat but yeah I’ll let all the media throw me under bus as if I did something or said something to him.”
Irvin felt the tweet welcomed speculation about Brady using a racial slur toward Mathieu, and on Tuesday Irvin went on “The Rich Eisen Show” to say Brady did not use any such language.
“I didn’t like that Tyrann Mathieu put that out like that, the way he put it out, honestly, because I thought — come on, now, it makes people want to know ‘What’d he say,’ as if he said the n-word. And he did not. Tom did not,” Irvin said. “So I don’t even like that looming over this situation. So that’s why I think we should clean that up somewhere, somehow. That’s what I’m saying. He didn’t say that.”
