It was probably tough for every Giants fan to watch Monday night’s loss to the Chiefs. Now imagine being an architect of the team’s Super Bowl run – and being forced to watch the messy game on national television.

Giants legend Michael Strahan was a guest during ESPN2’s Manningcast, and he appeared to be in agony at several moments watching the Giants’ offense sputter in the first half.

As the Giants drove the ball down the field late in the second quarter, Strahan remarked how he gets frustrated when teams throw the ball short of the sticks on third down – “6 yards on third-and-7.” Right on cue, the Giants faced a third-and-4 – and gained 2 yards on an out route.

Strahan threw up his arms in disgust.

“See, that’s what I’m saying. I don’t understand this,” Strahan said, visibly frustrated. “Why not run 4 yards? 5 yards? If you’re going to design it in practice to do that. Everybody does it. It bothers me. I’m a defensive guy, I don’t want you to get the first down, but it bothers me when you do something like that.

“I don’t want to see you do something bad. Stupid. Makes no sense to me.”

The Giants then kicked the field goal instead of going for it on fourth-and-2.

“I’m wearing this Giants shirt, but I gotta go hard at them, man. We gotta win. It’s been 10 years.”

Eli was speechless throughout most of the exchange, and tried to limit his criticism of his former team. He did make an interesting facial expression when Giants quarterback Daniel Jones threw an interception.

The Giants lost the game, 20-17, dropping their record to 2-6 on the season.
