The jealous mistress of a former NFL player kidnapped his wife and fatally shot her before taking her own life on an Alabama highway, it was reported Saturday.
Lisa Brown, 49, showed up Wednesday at the Ellenwood, Ga., home of Sandra Barnett — wife of former Buffalo Bills player Buster Barnett — because she was upset the couple was planning a trip together.
Brown interrupted a phone conversation Barnett was having with a friend, who then heard a struggle.
The friend called a male friend when she couldn’t get Barnett back on the line.
The man rushed to the house and saw a woman in the driveway by an SUV.
“When he turned back around, the SUV was gone,” Officer Charlene Watson-Fraser of the Clayton County, Ga., Police Department told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Cops spotted the black Dodge Durango in west Georgia a day later and chased it along I-20 into Alabama, where Brown stopped and got into a standoff.
“The driver stopped in the middle of the highway, pulled out a handgun and shot [Barnett] and then turned the gun on herself,” Watson-Fraser told the paper.
Buster Barnett, 56, was drafted by the Bills in 1981. His wife was a special-ed teacher.
