Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson had surgery Wednesday to repair a broken bone in his right leg.

Wilkerson suffered the injury in Sunday’s loss to the Bills, breaking his fibula. Wilkerson is a pending free agent, but the Jets are expected to place the franchise tag on him.

Wilkerson announced he was having the surgery on Twitter.

“Well I didn’t expect the season to end so soon and start the new year with a injury but it’s part of the game,” Wilkerson tweeted. “Everybody have a great hump day while I have my surgery today thanks for all the prayers.”
