JuJu Smith-Schuster is quickly emerging as a popular player for the Steelers as the No. 2 wide receiver behind superstar Antonio Brown.
Smith-Schuster’s amazing touchdown celebration and stolen bicycle earned him a lot of attention in the past few days. Well, he got his bike back Wednesday.
“The fact that this is “breaking news” is so crazy,” Smith-Schuster tweeted. “Shows you how crazy Pittsburgh is.”
Smith-Schuster’s stardom was already on the rise Tuesday. Former porn star-turned-sports talk show host Mia Khalifa was empathetic to Smith Schuster’s plight, but the former USC wide receiver ran away from her faster than than the Bengals defense on Sunday.
By doing so, he ignited a new meme. Several people responded to his tweet with various photoshopped versions of Smith-Schuster shutting down Khalifa, from stiff arms (and Brown’s famous flying kick) to dunks to Dave Chappelle.
If that wasn’t enough, the Steelers team account piled on after Khalifa tried to defend herself, though that tweet has since been deleted.
Maybe it is good publicity for Khalifa’s new talk show with Gilbert Arenas, but it does seem like athletes are getting the better of these online interactions after her getting the better of them for years.
As for Smith-Schuster, his biggest competition for the No. 2 spot behind Brown, Martavas Bryant, looks like he’s on the outs in Pittsburgh.
