The Green Bay Packers have taken only one offensive player among their last 10 first-round picks, and that lone selection was Aaron Rodgers’ likely successor at quarterback.

The Pack completed a tumultuous day Thursday without providing any more offensive help for Rodgers, assuming the reigning league MVP returns for a 17th season amid discord between the organization and its franchise quarterback.

One year after trading up to take Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th pick, Green Bay chose Georgia defensive back Eric Stokes with the 28th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Other than Love, the Packers haven’t taken an offensive player in the first round since drafting offensive tackle Derek Sherrod in 2011.

The disgruntled Rodgers had told people within the organization that he does not want to return to the team next season, prompting various trade rumors throughout the day, according to multiple reports earlier Thursday.
