The offseason is here.

While players can’t technically sign until Wednesday at 4 p.m. when the 2024 NFL league year begins, the legal tampering period began with a flurry of big moves.

Saquon Barkley ditched the Giants for NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. Kirk Cousins took his talents to Atlanta and the Giants made a big splash trading for Brian Burns.

Xavier McKinney got a big deal from the Green Bay Packers — but there’s still plenty of names left on the board.

By Rob Reese

Washington has a QB, or backup QB perhaps.

The deal is said to be a one-year deal worth $6 million, with upwards of $10 million to be earned.

The Commanders are rumored to be looking at a QB with their No. 2 pick in the Draft, and can either use Mariota in a backup role, or occasional starts.

Aaron Jones expected to sign with Vikings after shocking Green Bay release

By Rob Reese

The hot RB market continues.

In the latest twist -- Aaron Jones is now expected to sign with the Minnesota Vikings after being released by the Green Bay Packers on Monday.

The reported deal is for one year, worth $7 million.

After a seemingly down market for RB's last offseason -- it's been one of the hottest positions in the open market this year.

Justin Fields trade market evaporates as Vikings sign Sam Darnold

By Rob Reese

After a busy first legal tampering day, there's still one player without a new team.

Justin Fields seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle of league transactions -- as he remains with the Chicago Bears.

For a young player with upside, that begs the question, where will he end up?

The Falcons seemed like a likely landing spot prior to them signing Kirk Cousins. The Vikings quickly replaced Cousins with Sam Darnold, which could rule them out of bringing in Fields.

The most likely landing spot for Fields could be the Denver Broncos, who quit Russell Wilson last week.

So, will the former No. 11 pick find his way into a starting situation?

Bengals quickly pivot to Zack Moss after cutting Joe Mixon

By Christian Arnold

The Bengals wasted no time in replacing Joe Mixon.

Zack Moss will be Cincinati’s new running back after signing him to a two-year, $8 million deal, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero reported late Monday night.

Moss is coming off the best season of his career, rushing for a career-high 794 yards in 14 games – eight of which were starts – and recording five touchdowns with the Colts in 2023.

Moss had played two-plus seasons for the Bills before ending up in Indy.

The move ends Mixon’s time in Cincy after seven seasons, which included four 1,000-yard rushing seasons.

Mixon was released by the Bengals on Monday night as well, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Mixon ran for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns last season with the Bengals.

There had been some thought that Mixon would have been cut last season, but worked with the Bengals to redo his contract for 2023 and 2024, which would have had him owed $6 million for the upcoming season.

The move freed up $6.1 million in cap space, though some of that went into signing Moss.

Mixon, who was drafted in the second round of the 2017 draft, helped the Bengals reach the Super Bowl during the 2021 season and made the Pro Bowl that campaign.

He sits third in franchise history in rushing yards, second in carries and sixth in total touchdowns.

“He’s always played a big role for us and been a durable guy for us and a physical runner for us and always been available,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said about Mixon, according to The Athletic. “He’s one of those guys — this last season it was him, Sam Hubbard, Josh Tupou and Tyler Boyd were the last four from when I walked into the building. I always look at Joe Mixon very fondly and appreciate everything that he does for us.”

Mixon enters a crowded running back landscape this offseason.

And the 27-year-old is getting a late jump into the water.

Leonard Williams gets his Seahawks payday

By Michael Blinn

The Seahawks saw enough of Leonard Williams last season.

The star defensive lineman agreed to a three-year, $64.5 million deal to stay in Seattle on Monday, according to multiple reports.

Williams began his career with the Jets and was sent to the Giants in a rare cross-town trade. Big Blue dealt him to the Seahawks last season, where he racked up four sacks and 41 tackles in 10 games.

At 29, Williams figures to build on that start under new coach Mike Macdonald, who helped Justin Madubuike earn a serious payday with the Ravens with the Ravens last week.

Packers might have made their own Aaron Jones problem

By Michael Blinn

The Packers surprisingly cut Aaron Jones on Monday, shortly after signing Josh Jacobs to a four-year, $48 million deal.

Now a free agent, Jones is getting plenty of attention -- including from Green Bay's divisional rivals.

The Minnesota Vikings are in the market for a new rusher after Alexander Mattison failed to impress and Cam Akers didn't do much with his audition.

Enter Jones, who, after struggling in the regular season, reminded the NFL what he was capable of in the postseason, compiling 226 yards and three touchdowns in a two-game postseason run with the Packers.

If Jones is up for some revenge, he could get two guaranteed games against Green Bay per season.

Patriots reunion for Jacoby Brissett

By Michael Blinn

Jacoby Brissett is headed back where it all began.

The quarterback is set to join the Patriots on a one-year, $8 million, who selected him in third round of the 2016 draft.

He returns to Foxborough a seasoned veteran, having spent stints with the Colts, Dolphins, Browns and Commanders in the seven seasons since his NFL debut with the Pats.

The Patriots are widely expected to use the No. 3 pick in the 2023 draft on a franchise quarterback, though Brissett could be an intriguing option to push for playing time.

Noah Fant gets a Seahawks payday

By Michael Blinn

Tight end Noah Fant is sticking in Seattle after getting a two-year deal worth up to $21 million according to NFL Network.

The 26-year-old came to the Seahawks in the Russell Wilson trade and posted 50 receptions for 486 yards and four touchdowns in his first season with the team.

Those numbers dipped to 32 catches for 414 yards and no scores last season, though Fant represented one of the top remaining options on the market with ex-teammates Will Dissly (Chargers) and Colby Parkinson (Rams) heading elsewhere.

Fant was the leading receiver among the trio and will get a bigger chance to break out under new coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.

Patriots keep Mike Owenu in key move

By Michael Blinn

The Patriots were able to keep Mike Owenu under wraps, according to Ian Rapoport, giving the offensive lineman a three-year deal worth $75 million.

The contract includes $38 million guaranteed and a $22.5 million signing bonus.

Owenu's deal comes in well about Spotrac's calucated market value of $13.6 million per year, likely thanks to the massive contracts inked by Robert Hunt with the Panthers (5 years, $100 million) and Jonah Jackson with the Rams (three years, $51 million).

The Giants, Titans, Ravens and Commanders were among those believed to be vying for his services as both an excellent guard and tackle.

Giants sign Jermaine Eluemunor to two-year deal

By Justin Tasch

The Giants are making an upgrade to their offensive line.

Big Blue is signing veteran tackle Jermaine Eluemunor to a two-year, $14 million contract, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The 6-foot-4, 330-pound Eluemunor spent the past three seasons with the Raiders, playing under new Giants offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo the past two years.
