The Giants and Jets will battle for MetLife Stadium bragging rights in the middle of the season.
After squaring off last year in London, Daniel Jones and Aaron Rodgers will go head-to-head in Week 8 on Sunday, Oct. 29, in East Rutherford, multiple sources told The Post.
Daniel Jones and Aaron Rodgers after the Giants’ win in London on Oct. 9, 2022. APA lot has changed for both quarterbacks since then: Jones signed a four-year, $160 million extension to remain with the Giants, while Rodgers was traded from the Packers to the suddenly Super Bowl-thinking Jets.
The Giants and Jets last met in the regular season on Nov. 10, 2019, when the Jets sent the Giants to a 31-24 loss that was their sixth straight during what became a nine-game losing streak that sealed head coach Pat Shurmur’s fate.
Both teams have come a long way since then.
The Giants are coming off of a playoff win at the end of head coach Brian Daboll’s surprisingly successful first season, while the Rodgers acquisition has the Jets dreaming of not only ending a 12-year playoff drought but also contending for a Super Bowl title.
One school of thought was that the NFL schedule-makers might open the season with a Giants-Jets game on “Monday Night Football,” which is the 22-year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The Jets instead will host the Bills on that night, the league announced.
The Giants and Jets likely will still meet in the preseason and discussed making joint training-camp practices between the teams an annual thing after their uneventful renewal of the treat for fans last summer.
The Giants are the home team for the game.
WFAN’s Brandon Tierney was first to report the matchup date.
