The 2025 NFL trade deadline is almost here.

Tuesday at 4 p.m. is the official close of the deadline and rumors are already flying involving big names like Myles Garrett, Trey Hendrickson and Breece Hall.

In a rare in-season Saturday trade the Eagles acquired cornerback Jaire Alexander from the Ravens in exchange for a sixth-round pick.

Patriots doing some deadline diligence

By Michael Blinn

The Patriots are among teams that have been linked to different positions at the trade deadline, notably running back.

Coach Mike Vrabel said the team is continuing "to do their diligence" ahead of the deadline, per MassLive's Mark Daniels, and he met with team personnel to discuss it more.

“What happens is personnel staff makes calls and they all have conversations as this thing leads up to it,” Vrabel said. “I’d just say continue to do our diligence about what those may be and what they look like, and then make a decision that we think is best for us. That’s what I hope that we do. Until I hear otherwise, we’ll have conversations this afternoon. Nothing new to report.”

Buyers, sellers or somewhere in between: Where Giants could end up at trade deadline

Deadlines make deals.

Will that cliche apply to the Giants?

If so, will they be buyers or sellers in the agreement?

Tuesday is the NFL trade deadline, and there are a surprising number of ways the Giants (2-7) could pivot. Here is your primer:

Buyers?

The traditional way of thinking — future-minded teams without playoff hopes trade players to contenders for draft picks — is outdated. For example, the hapless Bears traded for Montez Sweat in October 2023 and used the jump start on negotiating rights to sign him to an extension before free agency.

Indications are the Giants will not trade for any pending free agents. But consideration is being given to acquiring a player — specifically a receiver — under the right circumstances, including a contract in place for 2026.

General manager Joe Schoen has nothing to lose.

Cowboys made a mystery trade

The Cowboys made a trade, according to Jerry Jones, but don't ask him for details -- the Dallas honcho isn't telling.

"A lot of action going on right now in terms of trading, we certainly have made a trade and we may make a couple more trades before that deadline," Jones said during a Sirius XM Radio interview with Stephen A. Smith. "We've made one. We possibly could make two more, and I'm going to wait and let you read about that when we send the papers in tomorrow."

The man himself said the deal will "address some of the things that have been our shortcomings," which would point to the defense, which is allowing 31.3 points per game, second-worst in the NFL.

With the Cowboys set to face the Cardinals on "Monday Night Football," Jones joined the pregame show and continued to play coy.

"The details are tomorrow," Jones said. "There's a good chance that we'll have some things to talk about tomorrow."

With bated breath, we are all left to await our Tuesday Cowboys news.

Asante Samuel cleared for action

By Michael Blinn

One of the biggest trade deadline adds may not come via trade.

Cornerback Asante Samuel was reportedly cleared to play after having a spinal procedure during the offseason, making the free agent an intriguing add -- with visits seemingly scheduled for this week.

Jaelan Phillips has familiarity with Vic Fangio

By Rob Reese

Eagles DC Vic Fangio may have had some input in Philadelphia acquiring 26-year-old pass rusher Jaelan Phillips.

Fangio coached Phillips in Miami and could help him return to his rookie form where he had 8.5 sacks.

The Eagles have not had a ton of success with in-season trades. Jay Ajayi is the last one to make a big impact. But they've also never swung a deal for someone as good and young as Jaelan Phillips, who has familiarity with Fangio and should slide right in. Great move.
