The Cowboys nearly went scoreless in their first half of the 2023-24 playoffs.

And if they’re not careful, the second half to follow could be their last of the season.

The Packers, who entered as 7.5-point underdogs after securing an NFC wild-card berth by winning three straight and six of eight to end the season, torched the Cowboys for 27 straight points in the first half behind both their high-powered offense and absurdly on-point defense.

The Packers received the ball first and immediately emerged with a 12-play drive that ended in a touchdown run from Aaron Jones.

The Cowboys had an opportunity to respond, but a six-play drive ended with a punt and Dak Prescott threw an interception to star cornerback Jaire Alexander on their next possession, which subsequently set up a second rushing touchdown for Jones before the end of the first quarter.

The Packers scored again with a Jordan Love touchdown pass to Dontayvion Wicks with 3:23 to go in the second quarter, and on the ensuing drive, Prescott threw a second interception, this one returned for a touchdown by Darnell Savage Jr.

The Cowboys finally were able to march down the field on the final drive of the half, eventually getting to the Packers’ 1-yard line and scoring with a Prescott pass to tight end Jake Ferguson.

The Cowboys trailed 27-7 at halftime and will get the first possession of the third quarter but were held to a field goal.

A Cowboys loss will likely fuel speculation of a coaching change from Mike McCarthy, the team’s head coach since 2020 who led them to the playoffs for the third consecutive season.

Among the notable head coaches available include Bill Belichick, who parted ways with the Patriots and former Titans head man Mike Vrabel.
