Mike McCarthy isn’t one and done in Dallas, but two of the defensive coaches around him are.

Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula were fired on Friday following the Cowboys’ dismal 6-10 season that wrapped up with a disappointing 23-19 loss to the Giants last Sunday.

“I am appreciative of my relationships with both Mike and Jim, and I am grateful for the contributions that both of them made to our team under difficult circumstances in 2020,” McCarthy said in a released statement. “These are never easy decisions to make, and we wish them, and their families, the very best in the future.”

The defense was a mess. It was 23rd in yards allowed (386.4), 31st in rushing yards allowed (158.8) and 28th in points allowed (29.6), giving up a total of 473 points. That was the highest mark in franchise history.
