A look at who to target, and who to avoid for Week 3:

That’s exciting

Jimmy Garoppolo QB, 49ers

With Trey Lance out for the year, Jimmy G makes his return to the field. He will be an adequate platoon or backup fantasy QB. Plus, he should boost the numbers of other Niners players — with fewer QB runs and TDs, and more passing-game efficiency.

Chase Daniel QB, Chargers

If you had Lance or Justin Herbert misses time, you can do worse than Daniel in super-deep or two-QB leagues. He only has five career starts, but you’re not investing in him, you’re investing in the talent around him.

Darrel Williams RB, Cardinals

James Conner’s ankle injury reportedly isn’t as serious as feared, so this is just a short-term filler. Williams split work with backfield mate Eno Benjamin, but Williams was more productive and got a score.

Nelson Agholor WR, Patriots

Look, this easily could backfire. But it isn’t like he has a lot of WR competition in a weak Pats fleet. So maybe he finally can find some staying power.

Curb your enthusiasm

Antonio Gibson RB, Commanders

You can continue to play Gibson while Brian Robinson is out, but be ready to shelve him as soon as his volume drops. Averaging barely more than 3 yards per carry (3.07) and saw his role in the passing game plummet in Week 2.

Garrett Wilson WR, Jets

Wilson had his breakout game in Week 2 (8-for-102, two TDs). But Elijah Moore isn’t going to disappear, and the Jets aren’t going to score 31 points the vast majority of the time.

Kenyan Drake RB, Ravens

Carried just six times for 8 yards despite J.K. Dobbins being held out again. Just guessing: If Drake isn’t effective on the field, he will be even less so on the bench once Dobbins returns.

Russell Gage WR, Buccaneers

Breshad Perriman looks like the third WR for the Bucs more so than Gage. Ride Gage one more week (with Mike Evans suspended and Chris Godwin likely out again), but have a replacement in mind by Week 4.
