Former Boston College head coach Jeff Jagodzinski, who was fired for interviewing for the Jets head-coaching vacancy, was hired as the Bucs offensive coordinator today, the St. Petersburg time reports.

The thought was Jagodzinski wanted back in the NFL, because it was common knowledge he was going to be let go if he took the Jets interview. He never was considered a serious contender for the job that eventually went to Rex Ryan.

Before getting the top job with Boston College, where he took the Eagles to two ACC Championship games in two seasons, Jagodzinski was an assistant with the Packers and Falcons.

The Bucs recently fired Jon Gruden as their head coach and promoted Raheem Morris to the job.
